Super Spices

Sometimes the hubby and I like to go out to dinner on a Friday night.  I decided that on Fridays nights, if I don’t feature a recipe, that I would cover  “Super” spices.

I will start with one of my favorite spices

 Cinnamon

Did you know that cinnamon has as much antioxidants in 1 teaspoon as a full cup of pomegranate juice or ½ cup of blueberries?

Beyond antioxidants, cinnamon is also rich in natural compounds called polyphenols.  These compounds appear to act like insulin in our body and may help regulate blood sugar levels.  That’s great news for people with diabetes.

Try these quick cinnamon add-in’s to your favorites

Perk up your coffee with ground cinnamon.  Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon in your coffee grounds before brewing.

If you make French toast, pancakes, waffles, muffins, or even brownies, try adding 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the batter.

Sprinkle some cinnamon on your steel cut oatmeal in the morning.

How about a little cinnamon on your peanut butter and banana sandwich?

 Really, the choices are endless.

What are some of your great cinnamon add-ins?

I hope you all have a good night and don’t forget:

Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless ~ Jamie Paolinetti
